De Lacy Academy Project

A S Sports Systems Limited were pleased to be awarded the tender in February 2020 by Labosport, for De Lacy Academy part of the Delta Academies Trust.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic works were unable to commence as planned. However as soon as it was safe to return to work, with all the correct measures in place in accordance with Government Guidelines.

Therefore works commenced in July. 

Before…

In accordance with the Tender Specification works were “To uplift, remove and transport from site the existing synthetic turf surface.”

Removal…

The removal is completed with the aid of a excavator and telehandler, the team manually roll, band and clip the existing surface into manageable sized pieces for transportation…

A S Sports Systems Limited hold a waste carriers licence and only ever work with other organisations that comply with the Environment Agency. Re-purposing materials where possible to avoid them going to landfill.

Base preparation…

Upon removal of the existing synthetic surface, localized areas of the base stone were re-graded as required, before passing a straight level test.

Installation…

The installation aspect of the Project was “To resurface the Artificial Grass Pitch (AGP) with a 60mm 3G pile for Football use, to FA standards.

Line Markings…

This included the supply and installation of permanent inlaid 100mm wide, line markings for Football a 1 x 11v11, 1 x 9v9 and 3 x 7v7.

Also the supply and installation of silica sand and SBR rubber infill, as per manufacturers guidance. Both products were evenly distributed and brushed into the finished pile.

Infill…

The surface area was 106m x 71m a Total of 7,526 square metres.

Included within this contract we arranged ball-stop perimeter fencing repairs and upgrades to be completed by https://www.blfencing.co.uk/.

The fencing remedial works were completed by introducing bracing posts along the fencing exterior.

Upon completion…

The system was tested by Labosport upon completion to ‘Football Association’ (FA) standards. The system passed FA testing, before being handed over to Delta Academies Trust within the 5 week schedule.
