The summer holidays are always a busy time for our team here at AS Sports, as it’s one of the peak seasons for sports surfacing projects. With students off-site, it’s the perfect opportunity to carry out large-scale works and ensure pitches and courts are ready for the new academic year.
This summer was no exception. From brand new 3G football pitches to refurbished hockey surfaces and multi-use games areas (MUGAs), we were proud to work with schools across the UK to deliver high-quality facilities that will benefit students, staff and local communities for years to come. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights.
South Wigston High School
In Leicester, we created a new macadam MUGA for South Wigston High School. The new surface provides the school with a multi-use area that will cater to a wide range of sports, making the most of the space available and removing the need for multiple pitches. MUGAs are great options for schools, with low maintenance requirements and year-round playability.
King Edward VI Aston School
We resurfaced the sand-dressed surface at King Edward VI Aston School in Birmingham, using high-quality turf from Lano Sports. The pitch was designed with a range of sports in mind, including football, hockey, tennis and netball, making the most of the school’s space while not compromising on quality.
Tapton School
We resurfaced Tapton School’s 3G football pitch using turf from Juta, providing the Sheffield school with a top-quality pitch, designed with football in mind. Artificial turf is a fantastic choice for schools, with a range of benefits including low maintenance needs, durability and all-weather accessibility.
King Edward VII – Lower School
We used high-performance turf from Juta to resurface the 3G football pitch at King Edward VII Lower School in Sheffield, giving the school a durable surface to enjoy for years to come. Many schools opt for 3G turf for their football pitches, as it replicated grass playing qualities in bounce, impact, pace and performance. It’s durable enough to withstand extensive usage, and is free-draining to avoid waterlogging. A brilliant choice for schools and sports facilities alike.
The Littlehampton Academy
We installed a brand new 3G football pitch for The Littlehampton Academy, using turf from Lano Sports. Another great project delivering a high-quality, durable pitch for the school’s pupils to enjoy.
Bridgwater College Academy
We installed another fantastic 3G football pitch for Bridgwater College Academy, using quality turf from Lano Sports. We were delighted with the final outcome, with crisp lines and durable turf that’ll perform well for years to come.
Springwest Academy
In Feltham, we installed a 3G football pitch for Springwest Academy. We used high-quality turf from Lano Sports and were pleased with the final outcome. There are a range of benefits that come with 3G turf, making it a popular choice for schools, universities, sports clubs and community facilities alike.
Surbiton High School
For returning customer, Surbiton High School, we installed a top-quality sand-dressed synthetic pitch. We used turf from Lano Sports and were delighted with the outcome of the project. We are always grateful for returning customers who choose us for their sports surfacing projects time and time again.
Ormiston Maritime Academy
We worked alongside Surfacing Solutions Limited at Ormiston Maritime Academy in Grimsby to deliver a sand-dressed hockey surface. We used turf from Polytan for a high-quality, durable surface, perfectly suited to the demands of hockey. There are a range of options available for synthetic hockey pitches, however, sand-dressed surfaces are particularly popular with schools.
