Client: Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, Blackburn
Date: Summer 2023

Challenge

The Blackburn Rovers Indoor Centre (BRIC) had been a cornerstone of the community for over 20 years, but the facility was in need of modernisation to better serve local residents. Operated by Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, the goal was to upgrade the centre into a modern, multi-purpose space that could continue to support sports and community programmes for years to come. Funding was secured through a grant from the Premier League, FA, and the Football Foundation, alongside contributions from Blackburn Rovers and Darwen Council.

Solution

We undertook a complete refurbishment of the BRIC, transforming the existing space into a cutting-edge, multi-functional indoor facility. Key upgrades included:

  • A fully modernised sports hall
  • Improved lighting, flooring, and social spaces
  • Enhanced amenities to support a wide range of community activities

The centre was designed to be versatile, catering to both sports events and educational/community initiatives.

Results

The refurbishment was completed over a 4-month period, delivering a state-of-the-art facility that now serves the local community. The BRIC is once again a vital hub for sports, youth development, and community programmes, with positive feedback from all stakeholders. The modernised centre is expected to support these initiatives for decades to come.
