Football is at the heart of countless communities across the UK. From grassroots teams to semi-professional clubs, having a top-quality pitch is essential, not just for matchday, but for training and community use.
At AS Sports, we understand what clubs need from their surfaces, and we’re proud to have delivered a range of synthetic pitches designed to meet those demands. We tailor every project to ensure longevity, durability, and compliance with industry standards. In this blog, we’re taking a look back at some of the football club projects we’ve worked on in recent years, highlighting transformations that have helped clubs elevate their facilities and future-proof their pitches.
Margate FC
We worked on an exciting project for Margate Football Club between the Winter of 2024 and Spring of 2025, refreshing their pitches for the season ahead. The project involved extensive base remedial works, the recycling of the old surface with Sportex Recycling, and the installation of a brand-new synthetic turf system from TigerTurf. We also upgraded the LED floodlights (courtesy of SJB Floodlighting), installed new fencing and carried out infill migration to help maintain performance and extend the life of the surface.
It was a full transformation and we couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out. We want to extend a thank you to our project partners, Surfacing Standards Ltd, for helping bring this project to life.
Basford United FC
In 2024, we completed a 3G pitch installation at Basford United Football Club in our hometown of Nottingham, delivering a high-performance surface built for durability and all-weather play. We were pleased to be able to provide the club with a reliable space for training and matches all year round, and were delighted with the final result.
Blackburn Rovers
We were selected to carry out a project for Blackburn Rovers in 2023, refurbishing their beloved indoor centre, known as the BRIC. Operated by their official charity, Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, the indoor football centre has been contributing to projects and programmes for over two decades, and was in need of some modernisation. It was a fantastic project to work on and the finished result has been a hit with the club ever since.
Belper Town FC
In December 2023, we stepped in to help Belper Town Football Club after their 4G training pitch suffered severe flood damage from Storm Babet. The club feared they would need to replace the entire surface, but after assessing the situation, we knew we could help rescue the pitch and prevent the need for a full resurface. We were able to repair and revitalise the pitch, bringing it back to top condition and saving the club the cost of a replacement.
Stafford Soccer Centre
Back in September 2021, we installed two 5v5 synthetic football pitches for Stafford Soccer Centre at Beaconside Sports & Fitness. The results were great and we left the project with a very happy client. We returned in the Summer of 2022 for another project, installing a brand-new 3G football pitch.
It’s always a pleasure to install sports surfaces for any customer but it’s even more rewarding when it’s a repeat client. We love revisiting somewhere knowing that they’re happy with the service we provided, and would like us to work on another project.
